Sherine Cheptoo Earns Prestigious VLIR-UOS ICP Scholarship to Study in Belgium
Sherine Cheptoo, a second-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at Kirinyaga University, has achieved a remarkable academic milestone. She has been awarded the highly competitive VLIR-UOS ICP scholarship to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Computer Science at Thomas More University in Belgium.
Cheptoo’s selection places her among an elite group—only eight students from across the globe were chosen for this prestigious scholarship. The VLIR-UOS scholarship program aims to support students from developing countries, providing them with world-class education and international exposure.
Her scholarship comes under the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Kirinyaga University and Thomas More University, a strategic academic partnership that opens global opportunities for exceptional students.
“This opportunity is a dream come true,” Cheptoo shared. “I am deeply grateful to Kirinyaga University and Thomas More University for believing in my potential. I look forward to growing academically, gaining new experiences, and giving back to my community.”
The Bachelor of Applied Computer Science program at Thomas More University is designed to equip students with hands-on skills in software development, data analytics, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. With Belgium being one of Europe’s leading innovation hubs, the program promises Cheptoo a transformative academic and cultural experience.
Kirinyaga University continues to position itself as a rising center of academic excellence, and Cheptoo’s success underscores the impact of its international collaborations. Her journey is not just a personal triumph but an inspiration to many young scholars in Kenya and beyond.
