Veteran Broadcaster Fred Obachi Machoka Sues MCA Robert Alai for KSh60 Million Over Defamation

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai is in hot water after veteran broadcaster Fred Obachi Machoka filed a KSh60 million defamation lawsuit against him over a social media post that Machoka claims was both false and malicious.

The controversy began when Alai, known for his provocative online presence, published a post allegedly questioning Machoka’s health and accusing him of tribalism—allegations that Machoka says are completely unfounded.

Legal Action Unfolds

Machoka, through his lawyer Danstan Omari, responded promptly, dismissing the statements as “false, defamatory, and emotionally damaging.” According to Omari:

“The plaintiff has served in Kenya’s broadcast industry for over 47 years, earning immense respect and a loyal following nationwide.”

After Alai ignored Machoka’s formal demand for a retraction and apology within 48 hours, the veteran journalist proceeded to court. The lawsuit not only seeks damages but also calls for an injunction to prevent Alai from making further defamatory remarks about him across any media platform.
