About the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS)
The UTS is designed for highly talented students from non-EU/EEA countries applying for eligible Master’s programmes at the University of Twente. It aims to support future global leaders by offering financial assistance and opportunities for further scholarship extensions.
This scholarship allows you to become one of the most promising UT students while studying at one of Europe’s leading research universities.
Scholarship Value
Successful applicants will receive:
💰 €3,000 – €22,000 for one academic year
The scholarship does not cover tuition fees directly.
It is intended as a contribution to living and study expenses.
You are responsible for managing how the funds are used.
Two-Year Master’s Programme Benefits
If you are admitted into a two-year Master’s programme, you may receive a second-year scholarship equal to the first-year amount.
To qualify for the continuation:
✔ Maintain an average grade of 7/10 by the end of the 3rd quartile of year one
✔ Successfully complete at least 50% of European Credits (EC) by the end of the 3rd quartile
Additional Scholarship Opportunity – Kipaji Scholarship
UTS recipients may also be eligible for the Kipaji Scholarship, which supports talented students from developing countries.

Eligible Master’s Programmes
UTS is available for a wide selection of UT Master’s programmes, except:
❌ Programmes at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC)
❌ Pre-Master programmes
❌ Programmes for EU/EEA or Dutch students
❌ For students paying the statutory tuition fee
Only non-EU/EER students admitted to qualifying Master’s programmes can apply.
Who Can Apply? – Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the University of Twente Scholarship, you must meet all of the following:
1. Academic Admission
You must first apply and receive (conditional) admission into a UT Master’s programme.
Admission may take up to 8 weeks.
2. Student Number
A valid student number is required to submit the UTS application.
3. Non-EU/EEA Nationality
You must come from a country outside the European Economic Area.
4. Academic Excellence
You should belong to the top 5–10% of your graduating class.
5. English Proficiency
Minimum IELTS 6.5 (speaking subscore: 6.0)
orTOEFL iBT 90 (speaking subscore: 20)
6. Visa Eligibility
You must meet requirements for a Dutch study visa (if applicable).
7. No Dutch Study Loan
Students eligible for Dutch student financing cannot apply.
8. Not a Graduate of UT
You must not have completed a degree program at the University of Twente.
9. Financial Ability
UTS is not a full scholarship—you must demonstrate that you can cover additional living or study costs not funded by the scholarship.
