Man Sets up own police station in the village

Law enforcement in Uasin Gishu has initiated an inquiry after an individual was discovered to have unlawfully established a police patrol station at Cherus Centre, Kesses Sub-County, without the awareness or approval of the National Police Service (NPS). Reports indicate that the suspect, Collins Leitich, known as Chepkulei, a resident of Asis Village in Ndugulu location, decided to create a police patrol base within a building, even going as far as to paint the structure in official police colors, thus giving the false impression of a legitimate security facility. Officers from Kamuyu Police Post, part of Kondoo Police Station, were notified and documented the incident under OB04/08/03/2025.

Community members expressed their surprise regarding this disclosure. “We were taken aback to learn that the police patrol base was not legitimate. Many of us believed it was a real effort to enhance security in the region,” remarked a local resident.

Officials have yet to determine the reason behind the suspect’s establishment of the unauthorized patrol base. Police have promised residents that necessary measures will be taken while they proceed with their investigation.
