1. Engineer – Energy Analytics

Location: Kenya

Job Description:
Reporting to the Lead – Energy Analytics, the role involves end-to-end ownership of energy management databases, analytics, digitization, and automation, supporting energy initiatives across data centres, hubs, and BTS sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold company policies, code of conduct, and safety standards.

  • Develop and support ETL and analytics processes within the energy domain.

  • Maintain energy management databases and automate processes for self-healing and proactive monitoring.

  • Perform root cause analysis on dashboards, reports, and data incidents.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and alerts.

  • Lead implementation of digitization and automation in energy management.

  • Manage benefits realization for energy projects.

  • Document data models and pipelines clearly.

  • Participate in vendor selection for digitization & automation projects (EOI/RFP evaluation).

  • Support development and deployment of machine learning models to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

  • Stay updated on trends in data science, telecommunications, and energy management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Telecommunication, Computer Science, IT, or related fields.

  • Minimum 2 years in a data engineering role with proficiency in data analytics and presentation.

  • Programming experience (Python, Java, C#) and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense).

  • Working knowledge of Big Data systems, SQL/NoSQL databases (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS SQL, MongoDB).

  • Experience in energy management or telecom is a plus.

  • Machine learning experience is advantageous.

2. Engineer – Enterprise Core Support

Location: Kenya

Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager – Enterprise Core Support, this role leads fault resolution, configuration, QA, software management, system integration, and testing within the IP Enterprise Core network domain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resolve incident tickets timely as per SLA.

  • Plan and implement change requests to avoid unplanned incidents.

  • Ensure newly accepted network elements are fully functional, tested, alarm-free, and SOC monitorable.

  • Participate actively in resolving quality-related issues.

  • Resolve NMS issues within 8 hours of detection.

  • Ensure ENTERPRISE CORE services meet availability targets (≥99.99% reliability).

  • Maintain NMS with full FCAPS functionality and accurate weekly backups.

  • Perform BCP and disaster recovery as scheduled.

  • Adhere to ENTERPRISE CORE network processes and procedures.

  • Proactively resolve network issues to maintain 100% availability.

  • Remove and power down legacy equipment to save space and power.

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunications/IT.

  • At least 3 years’ experience, with 2 years in a specialized role in IP network projects.

  • Thorough knowledge of IP network performance monitoring and optimization tools.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving expertise.

  • Certifications: CCNP, CCIE, HCNP, HCIE, or equivalent.

  • Experience with network design, implementation, IPv6 addressing, and segment routing.

3. Engineer – Fixed Solutions Architecture

Location: Kenya

Job Description:
Reporting to the Fixed Solutions Architecture Lead, responsible for network architecture, planning, implementation, and automation of Fixed Solutions infrastructure and services (including FTTX and fixed wireless access) to ensure cost-efficiency, scalability, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) in consultation with fibre deployment teams.

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and commission service access nodes for FTTX.

  • Design and implement broadband gateway nodes for Fixed services.

  • Assist support teams with root cause analysis of persistent fixed service problems and recommend optimizations.

  • Design and implement automation journeys for repetitive Fixed solutions tasks.

  • Forecast fixed services traffic and plan capacity, licensing, and optimization.

  • Enhance reporting and analytics for network and customer service KPIs.

  • Ensure all project documentation is up to date.

  • Evaluate emerging network technologies and solutions to improve customer experience.

  • Conduct trials, proofs of concept, and sourcing initiatives.

  • Engage regularly with vendors and suppliers on performance and solutions.

  • Collaborate with commercial teams to align network design with organizational goals.

  • Work with other tech teams to maintain and optimize Fixed Solutions services.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication Engineering, IT, or related field.

  • Minimum 3 years in telecommunications/service provider environment in roles involving planning, automation, support, implementation, and commissioning.

  • Knowledge of Passive Optical Network architecture and operations.

  • Broad understanding of 4G, 5G, and microwave fixed wireless access networks.

Brief Description:
Work alongside the Internal Communication Lead to develop and execute internal communication strategies that deliver engaging, clear, and timely messaging to employees at all levels.

Job Description:
Responsible for technical expertise and oversight of mechanical services in Safaricom’s data centers, including diesel generators, HVAC, fire suppression, plumbing, and drainage systems. Drive energy efficiency programs and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data center mechanical strategy.

  • Lead energy efficiency initiatives and conduct energy audits.

  • Oversee mechanical design to meet specs, timelines, and budget.

  • 5+ years in renewable energy/energy efficiency; 3 years in telecom environment.

  • Experience in telecom or mission-critical IT data centers.
