President Ruto Donates KSh 1 Million to Support Late Comedian KK Mwenyewe’s Family

President William Ruto has extended financial support to the family of the late comedian Zakaria Kariuki, popularly known as Mr. KK Mwenyewe, following his untimely passing earlier this week.
The Head of State donated KSh 1 million, which was delivered by Dennis Itumbi during a heartfelt memorial and fundraising event held at Springs Hotel in Nairobi. The event drew friends, fans, and leaders who gathered to pay their respects to the popular content creator.
Other notable contributions came from:
Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika – KSh 200,000
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah – KSh 100,000
Area MP – KSh 100,000
The memorial was organized by KK’s close friend and fellow content creator Kafengo, who revealed emotional details about the comedian’s health struggles. According to Kafengo, KK had been suffering from stomach complications since 2020, but his condition worsened significantly two months ago, ultimately leading to his death while receiving treatment at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.
“KK had been unwell for a long time. We tried our best to help him, but sadly, we lost him,” said Kafengo.
Mr. KK Mwenyewe rose to fame for his comedic impersonations of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and his skits became a sensation across TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.
His passing has prompted a national outpouring of grief, with fans continuing to share his last skits and messages of condolence across social platforms.
The money raised during the memorial will go toward funeral arrangements and supporting his surviving family. Burial Will be held on wednesday 23 July 2025.
