The New Generation Alliance (NGA) has issued a powerful and urgent statement condemning the ongoing violence, disinformation, and repression directed at peaceful youth-led demonstrations across the country. In a declaration dated July 2, 2025, NGA Secretary General Mr. Bright Shitemi addressed what the movement calls a coordinated state-sponsored effort to silence dissenting voices demanding justice and accountability.

1. Infiltration, Not Instigation

Contrary to government claims portraying protesters as violent, NGA maintains that the real chaos has been fueled by unidentified and organized infiltrators. These groups, according to NGA, incite violence and vanish quickly, while peaceful demonstrators are met with brutal force.

“We have video evidence of police walking and working alongside violent goons responsible for arson, looting, and even rape of peaceful demonstrators,” the statement reads. “This is evil and completely unforgivable coming from the state.”

NGA questions the inaction of security forces in the face of such clear provocation and demands a public explanation on the origin and protection of these saboteurs.

2. Call for Resignation of CS Murkomen and DCI Amin

The alliance has called for the immediate resignation of Cabinet Secretary for Internal Security Kipchumba Murkomen and Director of Criminal Investigations Mr. Amin Mohamed. The statement accuses Murkomen of inciting extrajudicial killings by publicly encouraging police to “shoot to kill” and pledging them immunity.

“Mr. Murkomen has neither the ability nor temperament to lead such a crucial docket. That the President keeps him in office means he is complicit in the pain and plight of Kenyans,” said Mr. Shitemi.

DCI Amin is further accused of perjury and concealing the truth regarding the controversial abduction of activist Ndiangui, who the NGA insists must be released or produced in court immediately.

3. Illegal Media Blackouts

NGA also raised alarm over the illegal shutdown of television signals during the protests, which they labeled a hallmark of dictatorship. The alliance warned the CS that such actions will not go unpunished:

“When all is said and done, he will be held liable for his actions.”

4. Stop Sham Arrests and Abductions

The statement also lambasts what it describes as a continued pattern of politically motivated abductions and unlawful arrests. The NGA challenges the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to resign from what they call an “unofficial position in government,” warning that continued silence from ODM implies complicity.

“We challenge ODM to disassociate itself from these atrocities or admit they are part and parcel of the recent spate of abductions, killings, and illegal arrests.”

5. A Call to the Nation and Youth

In closing, NGA placed blame squarely on the political establishment, calling for the emergence of a new generation of credible leaders to champion the “Third Liberation.” The movement encouraged the youth to empower themselves by registering as voters.

“Your bullet is your ID and the voter’s card. Do not believe the narrative that elections will be stolen. They can’t. We won’t let them.”
