Job Description

As a Clerk of Works, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful supervision and delivery of construction projects in line with NHC standards and specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise construction works on assigned NHC projects to ensure compliance with design and technical specifications.

  • Collaborate with contractors to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy construction environment in line with safety regulations.

  • Support scheduling, coordination of site staff, and supervision of subcontractors.

  • Identify and help resolve design or technical challenges on-site.

  • Coordinate and attend site meetings and provide regular updates to the Project Manager or their representative.

  • Maintain accurate daily records of materials used on-site.

  • Prepare daily and weekly progress reports as directed by the Project Manager.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or their representative.


Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Diploma in Building/Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Engineering, Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a closely related field.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a busy construction environment.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.

  • Proven ability to manage construction projects through all phases.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili (both written and spoken).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent supervisory and reporting abilities.

  • High level of customer focus and professionalism.

  • Strong writing skills for reports and meeting minutes.
