1. Chief Officer, Public Service
Vacancies: One (1) Post
Terms of Service: 5-Year Contract
Requirements for Appointment:
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Hold at least a first degree from a recognized university in Kenya. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
Must be a member of a relevant professional body in good standing.
Have vast knowledge and experience of not less than 10 years in the relevant field, five of which should be in a managerial position.
Attendance of a Senior Management Course from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
Proven ability in leadership and management.
Capable of working under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Have excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Be computer literate.
Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the values and principles outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Chief Officer shall be the Accounting and Authorized Officer and shall be responsible for:
The administration of a County Department.
Overseeing management of finances, preparation and submission of budget estimates, annual plans, and programs.
Formulation and implementation of policies and plans.
Development and implementation of strategic sector development plans, performance contracting, and appraisal.
Formulation and implementation of County programs to conform to Vision 2030 goals.
Promotion of national values and principles of governance.
2. Medical Officer, Job Group “M”
Vacancies: Five (5) Posts
Terms of Service: Three (3) Year Contract
Requirements for Appointment:
Be a Kenyan citizen.
A degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., & Ch.B.) from a recognized university.
Completed a 12-month internship.
Registered as a Medical Practitioner by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council.
Must have a valid practicing license.
Demonstrable skills and experience in various clinical areas with at least three (3) years’ experience.
Be of acceptable moral and professional standing.
A certificate in computer application skills is an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Attending to patients in clerking, diagnoses, management, and follow-up.
Performing medical and surgical procedures.
Responding to emergencies and disasters.
Providing health education and maintaining medical records.
Participating in the management of medicines and medical equipment.
Counselling patients and relatives.
Teaching and coaching medical students, interns, and nursing students.
Internship Opportunities
The following positions are part of the Murang’a County Government Internship Program. This is a 12-month, non-renewable program designed to offer graduates hands-on experience.
General Eligibility Criteria for All Internships:
Be a Kenyan citizen not over the age of 35 years.
Be an unemployed graduate from a recognized training institution who has completed a Diploma or Degree course in the last 24 months (or 5 years for General Interns) in a relevant field.
Not have benefited from a similar internship program or been exposed to work experience related to their area of study since graduating.
Not have exited from formal employment.
Note: Preference will be given to Murang’a County residents while adhering to the principle of regional balance.
3. Pharmaceutical Technologist Interns
Vacancies: Ten (10) Posts
Minimum Requirements:
Diploma in either Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
Certificate of Enrollment as a Pharmaceutical Technologist from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
Certificate in computer application skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Dispensing drugs/medicines to patients under supervision.
Receiving, interpreting, and processing prescriptions.
Pre-packing, repacking, and labeling drugs.
Counselling patients on drug usage and maintaining drug registers.
Conducting monthly stock-taking of drugs and medical devices.
4. ECDE Caregiver Interns
Vacancies: Forty-Five (45) Posts
Minimum Requirements:
KCSE minimum grade D+ (Plus) or its equivalent.
Certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) from KNEC/Ministry of Education.
Be conversant with the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
Registered by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Certificate in Computer Applications.
Certificate of Good Conduct from the National Police Service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Class teaching and organizing play/learning activities.
Caring for the holistic development of learners.
Managing ECDE classes and keeping professional records (schemes of work, lesson plans, etc.).
Preparing and developing play/learning materials and ensuring learners’ safety.
5. Radiographer Intern
Vacancies: Three (3) Posts
Minimum Requirements:
Diploma in Radiography or Medical Imaging Sciences from a recognized institution.
Certificate in computer applications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Receiving and identifying patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Providing basic diagnostic and therapeutic radiography services.
Processing and maintaining patient information.
Counselling patients and applying radiation safety measures.
Performing routine quality control checks.
6. General Intern
Vacancies: Four (4) Posts
Requirements for Appointment:
Be a Kenyan citizen not over the age of 35.
Be an unemployed graduate who has completed a certificate, diploma, or degree in the last five years or less.
(Note: This role has a wider graduation window of 5 years compared to the standard 24 months for other internships).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Completing duties assigned by supervisors.
Documenting relevant skills acquired.
Actively participating in mentorship activities and additional responsibilities designed for the program.
7. Accountant Intern
Vacancies: Two (2) Posts
Minimum Requirements:
A pass in part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination OR
A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting option) or equivalent.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performing a variety of accounting work under guidance.
Preparing and verifying vouchers.
Balancing cashbooks, ledgers, and other routine accounting tasks.
Ensuring the safe custody of records and assets.
8. Software Engineer (Intern)
Vacancies: Two (2) Posts
Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or Software Engineering.
A minimum KCSE grade of C+ with a C in Mathematics.
Strong knowledge of application development languages and programming logic.
Experience with database development and systems analysis is beneficial.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the development, design, and maintenance of software systems.
Provide technical support for the county’s computer systems and networks.
Ensure ICT systems comply with regulations and maintain data security.
Assist in developing strategic plans for the ICT directorate.
9. Civil Engineer (Intern)

Minimum Requirements:
Diploma in Civil Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Be a registered member of IET or KETRB.
Be computer literate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning, designing, and overseeing the construction of public infrastructure.
Preparing design plans, blueprints, and technical specifications.
Supervising construction works to ensure they are on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
Testing materials and preparing tender documents and cost estimates.
10. Occupational Therapist (Intern)
Vacancies: Three (3) Posts
Minimum Requirements:
Diploma in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
Must be registered with the Kenya Occupational Therapists Association.
Certificate in Computer Application Skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning and supervising the provision of occupational therapy services.
Assessing patients’ needs for rehabilitation and formulating treatment plans.
Maintaining patient records and departmental supplies.
Collecting data for research and sensitizing the community on occupational therapy issues.
11. Physiotherapist (Intern)

Minimum Requirements:
Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution.
Certificate of registration and a current practice license from the Kenya Society of Physiotherapists (KSP).
Certificate in computer application skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Providing physiotherapy services to outpatients.
Assessing patients’ needs, including rehabilitation.
Screening, assessing, and providing therapeutic exercises and manual therapy.
Collecting data for research and preparing periodic reports.
12. Mortician (Intern)

Minimum Requirements:
Certificate in Mortuary Science (lasting not less than six months).
KCSE D (Plain).
A registration certificate and valid practicing license from the Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority.
Training in embalming and grief counseling.
Proficiency in computer skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collecting and receiving bodies through prescribed procedures.
Recording, washing, embalming, and refrigerating bodies.
Assisting in post-mortems and counselling relatives.
Releasing bodies to relatives as per laid-down procedures.
13. Registered Nurse (Intern)

Minimum Requirements:
Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing from a recognized institution.
Registration Certificate and a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient outcomes.
Providing healthcare services (IMCI, Immunization, PMTCT, Ante-Natal Care, etc.).
Providing health education and counselling.
Referring patients and maintaining records on patient care.
14. Clinical Officer – Intern (Ophthalmologists)

Minimum Requirements:
Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine.
Higher Diploma in Ophthalmology Specialization.
Registered with the Clinical Officers Council and hold a valid practicing license.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide consultations, conduct comprehensive eye examinations, and manage common eye ailments.
Perform minor eye surgeries and prescribe corrective eyeglasses.
Identify and refer complicated cases and lead eye care awareness campaigns.
Manage ophthalmic supplies and supervise other clinic staff.
15. Registered Clinical Officer (Intern)

Minimum Requirements:
Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or Clinical Medicine and Community Health.
Valid registration and practicing license from the Clinical Officers Council.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Taking history, examining, diagnosing, and treating patients’ common ailments.
Implementing community health care activities and guiding patients on health issues.
Carrying out minor surgical procedures and compiling clinical data.
Working in a flexible shift system and responding to emergencies.
