Munyaka Gang Terror: Pastor David Njuguna’s Encounter with B13 in Eldoret

In the quiet outskirts of Eldoret city lies Munyaka, a residential area now caught in the grip of fear. A once peaceful neighborhood has become the hunting ground of a notorious criminal gang calling themselves B13. These are not just idle youths—this is an organized, armed, and dangerous gang that has left several residents wounded, terrified, and deeply concerned about their safety.

A Pastor’s Ordeal With B13

Among those affected is Pastor David Njuguna, a humble and well-respected servant of God. For many years, Pastor Njuguna has been a spiritual voice of hope in Eldoret, known widely for his powerful preaching on local radio stations. He has prayed with thousands, counseled families, and inspired hope in households across Uasin Gishu County and beyond.

On the day of the attack, Pastor Njuguna wasn’t going to lead a service or a crusade. He was simply walking to his church to fix the electricity—a quiet act of service, behind the scenes, with no expectation of recognition or reward. It was during this routine gesture of maintenance that tragedy struck.

As he approached the church gate, he was ambushed by three individuals—two young men and a woman. They didn’t speak. They didn’t issue threats. They simply attacked. Blow after blow landed on the innocent man of God. The assault was brutal, cold, and appeared well-orchestrated.

Speaking exclusively to Kelvin Kibet Media, Pastor Njuguna said the encounter left him shaken not just physically, but emotionally. “I’ve always believed in community, in faith, in doing good,” he shared. “To be attacked like that, just for walking into God’s house… it breaks your spirit.”

The attack caused a commotion, drawing in neighbors who rushed to intervene. Two attackers fled. One was caught and beaten by an angry mob before police arrived and took him to hospital. Pastor Njuguna was also rushed to hospital with serious head and chest injuries. Doctors are monitoring him closely.

What makes this especially heartbreaking is that this innocent servant of God, a man whose life has been dedicated to helping others, was violently harmed while simply trying to keep the lights on in his place of worship.

A Pattern of Violence

Unfortunately, Pastor Njuguna’s ordeal is not an isolated case. Just yesterday at around 9 PM, another resident was robbed in the nearby Cyrus area. This time, the attackers were on a motorbike. They snatched a mobile phone and sped off, leaving the victim helpless and shocked.

Residents report that B13 has taken over a road named after them—B13 Road, which borders Munyaka and Mwitiria. In a disturbing show of audacity, the gang is even demanding the title deed to the public road from the government, claiming the territory as their own.

A Community Under Siege

On Wednesday, 21st May, county security officials held a public forum in Munyaka to address the wave of violence. The community raised deep concerns over the increase in illicit brews, drugs, and the involvement of school-going children being used to ferry drugs in their backpacks, believed to be part of B13’s network.

In a bid to restore order, a curfew has now been enforced starting from 8:00 PM daily. Authorities hope this measure will disrupt gang operations and reassure a deeply shaken public.

Local sources say B13 members range in age from 17 to 30. Many are suspected to be under the influence of drugs during their crimes, making them extremely volatile.

What’s Next?

The situation in Munyaka calls for urgent and coordinated action. Residents are pleading for:

  • Increased security patrols, both day and night

  • The disbandment and arrest of the B13 gang

  • Programs for youth rehabilitation and skills training

  • Support for victims, including medical and psychological care

As the story of Pastor Njuguna continues to inspire sympathy and calls for justice, it also raises a serious question: How long will the innocent suffer in silence?

This humble man of God, a radio preacher and pillar of the community, was left bleeding at the gates of the very church he built with love. It is not just his pain—it is our collective failure to protect the peace.
