Juja MP George Koimburi Poisoned, Vocal Cords Paralysed — Rigathi Gachagua Raises Alarm

Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi is currently hospitalized after being poisoned with chemical agents that have left his vocal cords paralysed, according to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Gachagua, speaking after visiting the ailing MP at Karen Hospital on Monday evening, described Koimburi as frail and barely able to move. The MP was found on a coffee farm in Kiambu County after a mysterious disappearance lasting approximately 18 hours.

The former Deputy President accused the government of using desperate tactics to silence opposition leaders. He revealed that Koimburi endured severe torture by professionals, resulting in soft tissue injuries and loss of voice.

“Doctors confirmed Koimburi’s injuries were caused by professional torture. He has lost his voice due to damage to his vocal cords, and they are working hard to restore it,” said Gachagua.

Gachagua further claimed that Koimburi was exposed to harmful chemicals through inhalation, a form of chemical poisoning that compromised his health but did not put his life at immediate risk.

The incident follows Koimburi’s escape from an alleged attempt to apprehend him on May 23 while distributing bursaries. Supporters insist that no official summons were issued before his disappearance.

The former Deputy President also alleged that the government has demobilized security details for opposition lawmakers, making them vulnerable to attacks. This comes after Gachagua himself escaped a reported government attempt to capture him using “biological weaponry” designed to slowly degrade his mental health.
