Kasarani Horror: Baby Amanda Killed After Being Thrown from Second-Floor Balcony

A disturbing incident at an apartment complex in Kasarani has left the nation reeling. A man, reportedly intoxicated, threw his niece—identified as Baby Amanda—from a second-floor balcony, leading to her tragic death.

The shocking act occurred at Apartment C4-205, where Amanda lived with her family. According to an official statement by property manager Lilian Gichuhi, the suspect, Amanda’s uncle, forcefully entered the home while the child was under the care of a house help.

“The individual caused a disturbance, overpowered the house girl, and snatched the child,” the statement read.

Horrific Scene Caught on Camera

Eyewitnesses say the man was visibly drunk and unstable. Despite the house help’s desperate cries for assistance, neighbours arrived too late. Amanda had already been thrown from the balcony onto the cabro-paved ground below.

In a viral video, the suspect is seen dangling from the balcony, then climbing down to where Amanda lay motionless. In a chilling turn, he violently slammed the unconscious child again and carried her away on his shoulder as horrified neighbours screamed.

Emergency Response and Death at KUTRH

Security guards and residents managed to subdue the suspect and rescue Amanda from his grip. She was rushed to Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital (KUTRH). Sadly, despite medical efforts, Amanda was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Suspect’s Bizarre Claims

In footage that has sparked further outrage, the suspect can be heard muttering:

“I threw a doll, not my daughter… I want to be taken to court. I know what I have done.”

Authorities have since arrested the suspect. He remains in custody as investigations continue. Police are evaluating his mental state and are expected to file formal charges.

Nation Demands Justice for Baby Amanda

This heartbreaking event has sparked a national outcry, with Kenyans demanding swift justice and greater protection for vulnerable children. The incident has also reignited discussions around mental health, alcohol abuse, and child safety in Kenyan households.
