A horrifying murder in Nyamache Sub-County has left residents shaken after a 55-year-old man, identified as Stephen Onserio, allegedly killed his wife, Evelyne Nyaboke, cooked parts of her body, and fed the remains to their young children.

According to Nyamache Sub-County Police Commander Kipkemoi Kipkulei, officers recovered decomposed human body parts—including a skull and limb—inside the suspect’s house after enraged villagers lynched him.

Suspicion in the Village

The events leading to the shocking discovery began when villagers noticed Onserio acting erratically in the company of his two-year-old child. Community members said he appeared unstable, and questions arose when it became clear his wife had not been seen for several days.

Resident Boniface Emmanuel, who was among those who confronted Onserio, said the villagers demanded answers. “He couldn’t explain her disappearance, so we followed him home,” he said.

Upon arrival, a strong stench led the group to insist that Onserio open his door. Inside, they found a chilling scene—pieces of meat scattered across the floor, some cooked, some raw. Residents immediately feared the worst.

Cannibalism Allegations Confirmed

Boniface revealed that Onserio confessed to the crime on the spot, admitting that the meat belonged to his wife and that he had fed the flesh to his children, telling them their mother had gone to her rural home.

“That man shocked us to the core. He said he killed her and cooked the meat for the children. Some parts were chopped and others cooked,” Boniface said.

History of Violence

According to Commander Kipkemoi Kipkulei, this was not Onserio’s first murder. “The suspect had previously killed another wife in 2007 and had only recently been released from prison,” Kipkulei revealed.

News of the crime quickly sparked mob justice. Villagers overwhelmed with grief and fury attacked Onserio and burned him alive before law enforcement could intervene.

“When our officers arrived, they found the suspect had already been lynched by an angry mob,” Commander Kipkulei confirmed.

Police Investigation and Next Steps

Police at Nyamache Police Station conducted a full search of the home, where they discovered more human remains believed to belong to Evelyne Nyaboke. The body parts were transferred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for further forensic analysis.

Investigations are ongoing, and Kisii County authorities have urged the public to refrain from mob justice and allow due process to take place in such horrific cases.

Community in Mourning

Residents of Nyamache are still in disbelief, struggling to process the level of brutality witnessed in their village. “This is something we only see in horror movies. It’s unimaginable that it happened right here,” one shocked villager said.
