
The University of Manchester has launched the Global Futures Scholarships 2026, offering over 300 awards to international students beginning their studies in September 2026.
These scholarships, valued at more than £6 million, aim to support talented students from across the world — including Africa — to pursue undergraduate and master’s degrees in the UK.
🎓 Undergraduate Awards
The University will provide over 100 merit-based undergraduate scholarships worth up to £30,000 (£10,000 per year over three years).

📋 Eligibility Criteria:
Must be an international fee-paying student domiciled in one of the countries above.
Must have lived in the eligible country for the past three years.
Applying for direct first-year entry in 2026 with any of the following:
A-Levels
IB Diploma
South African NSC or IEB
NCUK International Foundation Year
Must select The University of Manchester as your ‘Firm’ UCAS choice by 25 May 2026.
Must be self-funded (not sponsored).
❌ Not eligible: Medicine (MBChB), Dentistry (BDS), Architecture, or courses with integrated foundation years.
📅 Application forms will be emailed automatically to eligible applicants from December 2025 until the deadline.
🎓 Master’s Awards
The University is also offering over 200 merit-based master’s scholarships for postgraduate students. Each award is valued at £18,000 and will be granted as a tuition fee discount.

🎓 Undergraduate Entry
A-levels / IB Diploma: Direct entry to Year 1 available for students meeting the minimum course requirements.
KCSE Holders: Must complete a recognised foundation programme before joining undergraduate courses.
Foundation Pathways:
Integrated Foundation Year (Manchester): For high-achieving KCSE students in Maths and Physics.
INTO Manchester: Accepts students with a B average or higher in at least seven KCSE subjects.
NCUK Foundation in Nairobi: Available at Brookhouse School and IUPC.
🎓 Postgraduate Entry
A Bachelor’s degree (Honours) from a recognised Kenyan university with a strong GPA or percentage.
PhD entry: A master’s degree with Merit or above from a recognised institution.
🗣️ English Language Requirements
All international students must show proof of English proficiency:
KCSE English grade B or above (within the last seven years).
Accepted tests: IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or equivalent.
English requirement can be waived if the previous degree was taught entirely in English.

Some courses may require work experience or written submissions.
Applicants must hold an unconditional offer to qualify for final scholarship consideration.
For PhD candidates, funding options are available through individual schools and research groups.
