Body of Missing 26 Year-Old Fredrick Kiptui Found in Gurusalal Waterfall, Baringo County
The body of Fredrick Kiptui, a 26-year-old man who had been missing, was discovered in Gurusalal Waterfall in Shauri Yako, Eldama Ravine Sub-County.
His wife, Naomi Jelagat, recounted his final disturbing words before his disappearance: “I’m not feeling well. My body will be found in the water.”
Adding to the concerns, Kiptui had posted an unsettling message on social media shortly before he vanished:
“Good day guys, am not feeling well today, I may sleep a little bit longer than usual… I call it eternal sleep.”
Originally from Tenges in Baringo Central, Kiptui had been living with his family in Shauri Yako. The grim discovery was confirmed by Koibatek Sub-County Police Commander Joel Chepkwony, who stated that the body, which showed signs of decomposition, was identified by Kiptui’s family. While no visible injuries were found, the exact cause of death remains unknown.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched an inquiry to determine whether Kiptui’s death was a suicide or if other factors were involved.
Possible Signs of Emotional Distress
Concerns have emerged after Kiptui’s recent social media activity and reports that he lost Ksh. 2,000 in a gaming app, suggesting he may have been struggling emotionally before his death.
The body has since been moved to Mercy Mission Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Community in Shock
Residents of Shauri Yako and Tenges are mourning the tragic loss as investigations continue. Many have called for increased awareness of mental health issues, particularly among young people dealing with financial and emotional pressures.
