Job Purpose
The Firefighter Trainee will be responsible for offering rescue and firefighting services at airports, ensuring the safety of passengers, airport staff, and infrastructure.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Successful applicants will be required to:

Conduct fire and rescue operations in aircraft crash incidents and fire outbreaks within airport premises.

Respond to aircraft emergencies as guided by the Airport Services Manual.

Inspect fire engines, appliances, and equipment to ensure they are functional.

Clean and maintain all firefighting equipment and tools.
-
Inspect runways, taxiways, and aprons for fuel spills and foreign objects to maintain safety standards.

Check airport boundaries and surrounding terrain for accessibility.

Operate pumps and drive fire engines when required.

Participate in mandatory fire drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

KCSE Grade C (Plain):
-
KCSE Grade C- (Minus) for applicants from Minority Groups, Marginalised Communities, and Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs).

Basic Fire Training from NYS or a recognized institution is an added advantage.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification is an added advantage.

Age Requirement:

Applicants must be 26 years old (born on or after 1st January 1999);

28 years old (born on or after 1st January 1997) for candidates from Minority, Marginalised Communities and PWDs.
