1. Artisan (Multiple Disciplines)
Department:Â Engineering Services/Infrastructure Development
Grade:Â KPA6
Remuneration: Basic Salary: Ksh 67,317 – 85,554 + Allowances
This is an entry-level position for hands-on technical professionals. Successful candidates will be deployed in one of the following areas: Mechanical (Plumbers, Fitters, Welders), Electrical, Painting, Carpentry & Joinery, or Masonry.
Job Description:
Assist senior staff in carrying out daily safety checks on equipment and infrastructure.
Support planned and breakdown maintenance activities.
Help with housekeeping, cleaning, and organizing tools and workspaces.
Assist in the production and installation of equipment components.
Trace, sort, and carry materials from stores to the working area.
Person Specifications:
KCSE certificate or its equivalent.
Government Trade Test II or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Must meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.
Age limit: 30 years and below.
2. Technician (Multiple Disciplines)
Department:Â Engineering Services/Infrastructure Development
Grade:Â KPA5
Remuneration: Basic Salary: Ksh 76,156 – 108,767 + Allowances
This is the entry grade for Technicians, who will be deployed in areas such as Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Projects, or Instrumentation & Control.
Job Description:
Assist Senior Technicians in implementing maintenance programs and keeping records.
Support emergency repairs of infrastructure, marine crafts, and equipment.
Carry out inspections and checks on tools and electrical installations.
Assist in data collection for design projects and prepare daily site reports.
Ensure the safe use of all equipment on site.
Person Specifications:
KCSE certificate or its equivalent.
Diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Marine Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.
3. Assistant Ferry Master
Department:Â Ferry Services
Grade:Â KPA4
Remuneration: Basic Salary: Ksh 100,660 – 132,790 + Allowances
A leadership role within the Ferry Services department, commanding vessel operations and ensuring the safety of all onboard.
Job Description:
Hold overall command of the vessel and be in charge of the crew.
Ensure the safety of crew, passengers, and cargo during transit.
Observe navigation safety and attend to maritime distress calls.
Steer the vessel during berthing and unberthing maneuvers.
Conduct emergency drills and ensure the vessel’s cleanliness.
Coordinate ferry movements with other operators for smooth traffic flow.
Person Specifications:
KCSE certificate or its equivalent.
Diploma in Nautical Studies or a related field from a recognized institution.
A minimum of four (4) years of relevant working experience.
Master Port Operation Certificate of Competency.
GMDSS Radio Certificate and a valid medical certificate.
Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.
4. Laboratory Technologist
Department:Â Medical Services
Grade:Â KPA4
Remuneration: Basic Salary: Ksh 100,660 – 132,790 + Allowances
A critical role in KPA’s medical services, ensuring high standards in laboratory investigations and procedures.
Job Description:
Handle laboratory records with confidentiality.
Perform analytical processes for laboratory investigations.
Supervise staff and participate in internal and external quality control.
Prepare culture media and ensure proper storage of specimens and chemicals.
Implement occupational health and safety policies.
Person Specifications:
KCSE certificate or its equivalent.
Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution.
Must be a registered member of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologies Board.
Three (3) years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Proficiency in ICT.
5. Pharmaceutical Technologist & Pharmacy Attendant
Department:Â Medical Services
Pharmaceutical Technologist (Grade KPA4):Â Offers quality pharmaceutical services in dispensing, patient counseling, and medicine manufacturing.
Remuneration: Basic Salary: Ksh 100,660 – 132,790 + Allowances
Pharmacy Attendant (Grade KPA6):Â Assists in the provision of quality pharmaceutical care.
Remuneration: Basic Salary: Ksh 67,317 – 85,554 + Allowances
Duties include:Â Cleaning and organizing the pharmacy, assisting in drug listing and pre-packing, compounding drugs, and assisting in pharmacovigilance.
Person Specifications for Pharmacy Attendant:
KCSE certificate or its equivalent.
A Certificate in Pharmacy is an added advantage.
ICT skills and professional ethics.
6. Graduate Trainees
Grade:Â KPA5
Remuneration: Basic Salary: Ksh 76,156 – 108,767 + Allowances

Minimum of a Diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, ICT, Human Resource Management, or any other relevant field from a recognized institution.
8. Ferry Services Roles (Seaman, Coxswain, Mooring Assistant)
Department:Â Ferry Services
Grade:Â KPA5
Remuneration: Basic Salary: Ksh 76,156 – 108,767 + Allowances
These roles are crucial for the efficient and safe operation of harbour crafts and pilot boats.
Seaman & Coxswain:Â Undertake timely provision of harbour craft services, bunkering operations, and execute maintenance plans.
Mooring Assistant:Â Supervise the mooring gang to avoid marine delays and accidents, and coordinate communication between the gang and the pilot.
Person Specifications:
KCSE certificate or its equivalent.
Three (3) years’ experience as a Sailor II in a relevant field.
Coxswain certificate is mandatory.
