About Moi Teaching & Referral Hospital (MTRH)

Established in 1916 with an initial bed capacity of 60, Moi Teaching & Referral Hospital (MTRH) has evolved into a Level Six National Referral and Teaching Hospital. Recognized under Legal Notice No. 98 of June 12, 1998, MTRH is one of the largest healthcare institutions in Kenya, offering quality promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative health services to patients locally and across East Africa.

1. Director, Mental Health & Rehabilitative Services

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Psychiatry and MBChB
12 years of relevant experience, 8 in management
Registration and valid license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
Leadership course (minimum 6 weeks)
Duties:
Formulate and implement health policies, standards, and clinical guidelines
Oversee mental health programs, research, and clinical services
Lead capacity building and resource mobilization in mental health

2. Director, Paediatrics & Child Health

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Paediatrics & Child Health
12 years of experience, 8 in management
Registration with Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
Duties:
Develop and oversee paediatric health policies
Manage paediatric services, research, and training programs

3. Chief Information Officer

Qualifications:

Master’s in Computer Science, IT, or Health Informatics
5+ years in senior ICT management
Duties:
Manage ICT operations and data systems
Oversee hospital IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital innovation

4. Medical Specialist – Endo-Gastroenterology

Qualifications:

MBChB and Master’s in Internal Medicine
Fellowship in Endo-Gastroenterology
1+ year of experience in a busy hospital
Duties:
Diagnose and treat gastrointestinal and hepatological diseases
Perform endoscopic and other GI procedures

5. Medical Specialist – Arthroscopy

Qualifications:

MBChB and Master’s in Orthopaedics
Fellowship in Arthroscopy
Duties:
Diagnose and treat joint disorders using minimally invasive techniques

6. Manager, Laboratory Services

Bachelor’s in Medical Laboratory Sciences; Master’s in a related specialty
8+ years of experience (5 in management)
Duties:
Oversee laboratory operations, research, and quality assurance

Bachelor’s in HRM or Social Sciences; Master’s in HRM/Business Administration
8+ years’ experience (5 in management)
Duties:

8. Deputy Manager, Laboratory Services

Qualifications:

Master’s in Laboratory Sciences or related field
6 years’ experience, 3 in supervision
Duties:
Support lab policy implementation and oversee diagnostics operations
